East Side Milwaukee Events

Located in the heart of the Milwaukee's Fashionable East Side, Von Trier proudly takes part in community events such as Summer Soulstice and plenty of our own celebrations of Milwaukee and German culture.

East Side community events and Von Trier go hand-in-hand. With the East Side's largest celebration of the longest day of the year and the official start to summer kicks off with Summer Soulstice. Live music and ambiance punctuate this North Avenue celebration from noon until midnight every June with local Milwaukee artists and businesses coming together for a festival that is wholly unique. In early September the East Side participates in the Tomato Romp: a Bloody Mary competition like no other pits bars in the neighborhood against each other for the title of Best Bloody Mary. Controlled chaos ensues following the competition with a massive rotten tomato fight, with proceeds going to local shelters and food pantries to aid the combat against hunger in Milwaukee.

In late October, Milwaukee Film celebrates their annual Milwaukee Film Fest with an impressive array of diverse films and showings across the street at the historic Oriental Theater. There's no better place to stop before and after a showing to discuss the films with cohorts and friends, supporting the local Milwaukee arts.

Von Trier's German celebrations include Fasching, the start of Karnival Season in Germany and the German equivalent of Fat Tuesday, the fabled Oktoberfest, and Silvester, the traditional German New Year's Eve Celebration.
